a lovely ball of Baby Alpaca Brush Paint yarn. It was a BRAND NEW circular 10.5 bamboo needle. It was a wonderful needle which sported TWO points. It was a lovely start on a soft and yummy scarf. It was zipped up securely in a baggie. It was on the table (a large, high table) behind the couch. It was lying there waiting for me to come home and spend time with it.

It is NO MORE.
Newfoundland dogs, no matter how loving and adorable they are, how sweet their intentions, should keep their BIG LIPS off of my things!

We've Had More...

and more, really quite a bit for this part of the country. Everyone came into work yesterday to help remove snow from the tops of the greenhouses. It's an exhausting job and we are so lucky to have employees who willingly come to work on a Sunday, especially since everyone already works six days a week. Our other son was here too to help.
It's beautiful but not a good mix with greenhouses! More cold and wet tonight and tomorrow...we'll see what's coming our way.

Stay warm and dry!

No Body Does It Better

than Mother Nature.
I came home today to a little snow...such an interesting snow. I don't even know what to call it. It was snow, but not snow...little tiny, tiny pellets that settled on some spider webs outside. We knit, we weave, we embroider and we sew. We create, but no body does it better than Mother Nature. Such a gentle dusting on a web created by a Being who knows intrinsically how to weave such magic.
Nature knits a scarf, nature mends a rent, nature as always, creates beauty we can only hope to mimic.

Getting Back to Some of This

..although it is at a snail's pace. I have a scarf to finish and a hat that just needs some embellishment.
I signed up for a coaster swap that Amy is hosting. It's my first swap and I'm really looking forward to it. I am enjoying trying to imagine and figure out what colors, style, etc. that my partner would like. I hope I come close to the mark!
Have a good week.

The Other Day

we had some of this. It was beautiful. It was magical. We don't get too much here as we are only about 40 miles inland from the coast. As a girl from the tropics, I am always enchanted and mesmerized. It is a lovely miracle. I marvel at how Nature smooths out the angles, how She softens our surroundings, and how She brings a palpable silence.
I have to be cautious about what I wish for. Our snow is usually wet and can take the steel in the greenhouses and bend them like toothpicks when we get too much.
I hope for just another wee miracle of snow soon, just enough to delight and enchant me without the damage.

Do Any Of You Dream

Or Try To Dream of someone who is gone, someone you loved so much?
For some reason tonight, I was suddenly taken aback and was crying over one of the people whom I loved so much. Her name was Susan. She was, and is, even in death, my dearest friend, my heart of hearts. She was a year younger than I am. She was not supposed to die. She was everything I wasn't. She was so bright, so smart, so articulate.
If I were the one who was gone, she would have the words, she would have the poetry of loss.
We met a long time ago and you could count on both hands the number of days we actually spent together. Our love and friendship spanned years and miles, but it was always deep and caring.
I want to dream of her, I want to hear her voice in my sleep. I want to know that we are still connected. I want her to still be here on some level because I need her.
Susan has been gone for several years...I just find myself wanting and trying to call her at times and then I am brought up short . I cannot call her on the phone any more.
I love you my friend of friends beyond all that is, beyond belief. You gave me so much.
